Holland Park is named after Holland House, which was a Jacobean Mansion that once was the headquarters of the Whig Party. Although it was partially destroyed during the war it now forms the backdrop for the Holland Park Opera Theatre. It has been enjoyed over the years for sporting activities such as the playing of Cricket and Tennis in excellent facilities, as well as for the cultural and social use of the open-air opera and theatre venues.
